Recent observations

Five years ahead of teendom, Zane has become an iPod devotee. He likes to listen to Spongebob's songs or his Suzuki Violin songs.

Emmett came up to me yesterday holding a small black bug. "Do you want to see my spider?" he asked. "He's sleeping. He always goes to sleep after I squeeze him."

Leo made the observation that the best cartoons always feature dynamite.

What 2nd graders talk about

Overheard in the car:

Keegan: "How come Jack isn't on the team?"

Zane: "You mean Jack G. or Jack B.?"

Keegan: "Jack B. with black hair."

Zane: "He got a concussion so he can't do sports. That's when your brain pushes against the inside of your head."

Keegan: "Ouch! How'd he do that?"

Zane: "Um, some fourth graders pushed him into a pole I think."

Keegan: "Really? Did they get in trouble?"

Zane: "No, it wasn't on purpose. It happened on accident."

Keegan: "Hey, you know what would hurt worse than that? If your head caught on fire."

Zane: "Yeah that would hurt bad probably."

Keegan: "No way you could do sports if you caught your head on fire."

Zane: "Yeah, you're right. Hey, do you know what's on the lunch menu tomorrow?"

And now back to our regular programming...

Anyone who's checked here the past few weeks has probably been wondering about the strange square b/w images. No, they were not family shots. I just needed a place to park some images for a little while that was not on one of my primary sites, and the kids' site is obscure enough I was hoping no one would notice. But maybe one or two of you did. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Here are a few recent kid pix:

This is the first post of the officially revived kids' site. It'll now be more of a photos-only site, focusing less on text than images.

Some photos from our recent Thanksgiving at aunt Jenny's house in California:
